Course Information

The AMI Montessori 3-6 Diploma Course is an intensive full time program and spans approximately for 8 months, offering students a deep dive into Dr. Montessori’s core philosophy and pedagogy, which are foundational for working effectively with this age group of 3-6 children.

Theory Lectures

The Theory Lectures provide trainees with an invaluable opportunity to delve into the holistic development of the child, exploring the various phases of child development comprehensively. These lectures place special emphasis on understanding the formative psychic powers inherent in children, which play a pivotal role in fostering their overall growth and development. Through these lectures trainee teacher’s understand and gain profound insights into how to support the all-round development of children within the Montessori framework.

Practice Class

Along with theory lecture trainees would require to attend the Practice Classes where they will be placed in smaller groups and will handle the material and acquire the technique of its presentation. The classes will also be held under the supervision of qualified assistants.

School Observation and Teaching Practice

• To be completed at an assigned Montessori school during school hours.

• Outstation students may complete this at a Montessori school of their choice, in their hometown, provided the classroom is led by an AMI-trained adult.

Assignments and Albums

Trainee teachers are expected to submit typed assignments regularly, comprising theory essays, material-making tasks, and observation reports. They are also required to prepare six typed albums, each focusing on different areas: Theory, Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics, and Culture.

Additional Course Requirements

Students must procure necessary stationery and materials for coursework, assignments, and the creation of Montessori Albums.

Those using computers should budget for printing costs, especially colour printing, as required for course submissions. Costs may vary based on individual choices.

It is highly recommended that students prepare for these requirements in advance to ensure a smooth academic experience

Attendance

Trainees must have a minimum of 90% attendance including time taken off due to illness. In case of absence, students should notify the Director of Training in writing, at least one day ahead of time, stating their reasons precisely. In case of illness students should submit a medical certificate from a registered practitioner stating the nature and duration of the illness. Students must be punctual. Late comers will be marked absent for half the session.

Examinations

The written examination will consist of two papers, Paper A will be on child psychology and Paper B will be on the Montessori material s, their underlying principles, and practical application.

Eligibility for the examination will depend on the following:

• A minimum 90% attendance
• Punctual submission of work
• Satisfactory performance in the periodic test during the course

Diploma Certification

The prestigious AMI diploma, granted by the Association Montessori Internationale, equips individuals to work adeptly with children in the Montessori setting, specifically those aged 3 to 6. Valued highly, the AMI Primary diploma serves as a significant advantage for those aspiring to establish their own schools.

Eligibility to enrol for the course

• Graduates are preferred.
• If exceptions are made on the basis of the interview (at the Director’s discretion) the candidates in this category will be provisionally admitted.
• On July 15, the candidate should have completed his/her 20th birthday.
• Proficient in computer skills with reliable internet access.
