The AMI Elementary Assistants’ Certificate Course is useful for parents, guardians, and adults working with children from all fields. The course offers an in depth understanding of Dr. Montessori’s Approach to Education. Course work will consist of lectures, readings and discussion, practical session and Observation. The course is designed such that it highlights the important work of an adult as an assistant to the child’s development. It opens the way for adults to assist children both at home and in school. It helps interested adults work with children in a Montessori environment. Upon completion of the course requirements, participants are awarded a certificate from AMI.

Theory Lectures
The course lectures will touch upon some of the main principles of Montessori education.

- The prepared environment for the second plane
- The plan for the elementary child

Observation
Observation is a requirement for the certification. Students will need to observe a child, a plant, a thing or a painting and videos. They will be required to record and submit a written report of their observations.
Assignments
Students will need to submit written work at regular intervals during the course. These assignments will include theory essays and observation reports. All assignments must be completed in order to receive the certificate.
Attendance
In order to receive the certificate students must have 90% attendance. Students with attendance below 90% will not be eligible for an AMI certificate.
Language
All lectures will be in English. Course work will need to be presented in English.
Certification
The AMI Elementary Assistants’ Certificate is awarded to those who complete all the course requirements. In order to receive the AMI Assistants Certificate, the applicant should:
- Have 90% attendance
- Submit 3 theory assignments asked and acceptance is required
- Complete the required observation as required by the course and submit an Observation report
Trainer: Ms. Madhavi Gaddam
Ms. Madhavi Gaddam is the first Auxiliary Trainer in Asia, for the elementary level. She holds the Association Montessori International (AMI) 3 to 6 and 6 to 12 diplomas. She also has done her orientation to Adolescent studies under AMI. She has a vast working experience working with children in Montessori environments.

Dates: February 18th to March 5th 2021.
Time: 3 PM to 5:30 PM every week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
